The Twitter Phenomenon

Listening to so-called “Social Media Marketing experts”. For every five twitters, there’s one twitter that claims to be an expert in social media. They have a taste for spam and like to post links to blogs spouting off their knowledge about how to amass a huge following. Note: they don’t tell you how to gain a solid, strong following where the Twitters are actually interested in what you have to say. If you look closely at their own followers, it consists of – big surprise here – spammers and so-called Social Media Marketing experts.

Experts who are too busy promoting their own business. People who are interested in quantity, not quality. These experts utilize bad business Twitter strategies by focusing on the number, not the profit. Most people have found Twitter to be a great tool for the market place. In the past, marketing like direct phone calls, email marketing and direct mail was a way for companies to communicate with the outside world bringing their message to the customer. This form of marketing which has been used for years is called outbound marketing.

Now with so many ways to block that communication like caller I.D and spam blockers the companies need to find ways for the customers to find them and come knocking on their doorstep. Customers are searching the internet on places like Google; they are using blogs and social media to research their products before their purchase. People want to work or purchase from people that they know and trust, places like Twitter, face book, and linked in provide just that.

The idea of twitter is to get as many “followers” as you can, the idea being that the more followers you have, the more traffic you can drive towards whatever your website may be. This isn’t always the case, however. Some people use twitter to keep in touch with friends or to make new ones. The whole point of twitter, when you break it down, is to communicate with other people. Because you only have 140 characters in which to state your message, you have to make what you say relative to what you want people to hear.

In other words, don’t waste the space that you have in which to send a message. Twitter is a very simple network to get involved in, even if you have been unsuccessful with other social networking websites in the past. For whatever reason, Twitter is the most powerful, active and established microblogging network available at this time. The problem lies in one specific element of the system: the solicitation to purchase Twitter Traffic Machine itself which is contained in the automated response http://brandchannel.com/home/post/feed/2013/03/22/This-Week-In-China-032213.aspx?format=ATOM to new followers.

What this means is that if you follow the set-up instructions precisely, whenever someone decides to follow you, they receive a message looking for a sale. Of course, knowing this and doing it are two different things. Don’t give up the faith. Using social media, blogs and other technology to increase your sale of swimming pool supplies is not difficult.
